Around the first week of May, colorful flowers, and handmade baskets are sold on every corner, beautiful cards fill aisles at drug stores and supermarkets, and chocolates go on sale. All of this in light of the one day that every mother is guaranteed to be appreciated — Mother’s Day.
The second sunday in May, mothers across the nation are showered with gifts, and love that they usually do not receive the other 364 days of the year.
Although some may not really have the means to wine and dine their mother every day, it does not take much effort to mumble an “I love and appreciate you,” every day or so. There are many who lost their mothers, and say “I wish I got to…”
Most mothers go through numerous hours of pain just to bring their child into the world, and from then on show them unexplainable amounts of love. They deserve to be cherished everyday, and deserve to never be taken for granted. “Mothers are very important in a child’s life. The love you receive from your mother is comforting and the bond between each other is special and unforgettable,” said Miami Lakes Educational Center student Erika Sorensen.
Mothers are the ones who are there when children scrape their knees, or have a fever. They always pour their all into their children, and they are worthy enough to be placed on a high pedestal, and worshipped like the queens they are.
The world would be absolutely nothing without mothers. Literally, without women, humans would not be able to come into this world. So, every day, not just Mother’s Day, people should make efforts to show their mother that they love her.
