“I realized that when you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.” -Mitch Albom.
Mothers go above and beyond for their children and the definition of a mother varies as blood isn’t the only thing that creates a connection between parent and child. A mother can be many things but the common factor is the love they give to their children.
Mothers guide and protect; a mother will always put their children’s well-being before anything even at the cost of their own sleep, health, or sanity.
At the face of the worst situations, a mother will always try to put up a good face for her child.
Camila Ferro, a Communications student here at MLEC, says that that is one of the reasons she appreciates her mom. “Despite any hardships we have, she always keeps me smiling and tries to keep a smile on her face,” said Ferro.
Every sacrifice that a mother makes should be appreciated on the daily, but this Mother’s Day, they should be appreciated even more.
There are so many things that mothers do that sometimes it is hard to remember them all. Even when mothers scold their children they are only trying to teach a lesson they have already learned.
There is a saying in spanish that says “cuando tu vas ya yo fui y vine dos veces.” It is mostly used by parents to tell their children that they have experienced the same situations they are in twice around, so they should listen to their advice. Mothers’ advice should be taken seriously even if it does not please you.
Every life lesson that mothers share is important and eventually everyone comes to realize how important it is. There are those who do not have their mothers anymore but their memory and the lessons they learned from them along the way guide them along even when they are not present.
This is the power of a mother; the imprint of a mother’s love, guidance, and protection will carry on for all of their children’s life and even perhaps generations in the future.
